Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is a renowned destination, famous for its stunning natural beauty and access to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. This valley is a year-round playground for outdoor enthusiasts, wildlife lovers, and those seeking breathtaking views of the Teton mountains. Beyond its natural attractions, Jackson Hole boasts a vibrant cowboy culture, a sophisticated dining scene, and some of the finest hotels in the United States. It’s no wonder over 2.6 million visitors are drawn to Jackson Hole annually to experience its unique Western charm.
Given its popularity, especially during peak seasons, planning your Jackson Hole trip in advance is crucial. This includes securing tours, rentals, and, most importantly, accommodations. As a seasoned travel writer and hotel reviewer with extensive experience in Jackson Hole, I’m here to guide you through the best lodging options.
Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of staying at numerous top-tier hotels in the Jackson Hole area. From unique, character-rich hotels like The Wort and The Virginian Lodge, to the epitome of luxury at Caldera House and the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole, I’ve explored a wide range of stays. Below, I present my curated list of favorite hotels, including a selection recognized by Travel + Leisure’s prestigious World’s Best Awards and It List.
Expert Recommendation
As a frequent visitor to Jackson Hole, Lydia Mansel spends considerable time in this destination multiple times each year, for stays ranging from a few days to several weeks. Her experience encompasses various types of accommodations, from cozy Airbnbs and rustic guest ranches to luxurious mountain lodges and the area’s most opulent hotels.

Guest suite in Caldera House showcasing modern design and comfort.
What We Like: Each suite, whether two or four-bedroom, features a fully equipped chef’s kitchen, perfect for extended stays and family gatherings.
What to Consider: The exceptional amenities and prime location of Caldera House come with a higher price tag, reflecting its luxury status.
Caldera House, an It List honoree in 2019, maintains its allure as a chic Teton Village retreat. My winter experience at this eight-suite hotel highlighted its cozy and comfortable ambiance. The on-site adventure outfitter, “the Mudroom,” is incredibly convenient for ski rentals and gear. Beyond skiing at nearby Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the spacious suites, complete with fireplaces, bathtubs, and laundry facilities, are tempting to stay in. I also enjoyed the fitness studio, heated outdoor infinity plunge pool, and cedar dry sauna.

Know Before You Go
Rent a Car
While Jackson town is walkable and ride-sharing services are available, a car is recommended, especially for exploring national parks and remote areas. Car rentals are available at the airport and in town with shuttle services from off-airport companies.
Embrace the Outdoors
Jackson Hole is famed for outdoor activities and scenery. Winter offers skiing and snowboarding at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Snow King Mountain Resort, plus cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Summer activities include hiking, horseback riding, rafting, fly fishing, mountain biking, and swimming. Pack accordingly to enjoy these diverse options.
Visit in the Off-Season
Summer is peak tourist season in Jackson Hole, leading to crowded roads, booked restaurants, and high hotel prices. Visiting during the shoulder seasons (April, May, October, November) offers a quieter experience with better accommodation deals.
