Completing the “Finish a predator encounter without being seen” challenge in Batman: Arkham Origins can be easily achieved if you know the right locations and strategies. This challenge, ranked #3, rewards you with the Sonic Batarang and can be less frustrating than you might expect with the proper approach.
The key to success in this challenge is stealth. You’ll face around six regular thugs in a predator encounter scenario, and Detective Vision is your best friend. The recommended tactic is to methodically eliminate each thug silently, preventing them from grouping up and actively searching for you. Taking down enemies one by one is crucial for maintaining your unseen status and securing the challenge completion.
It’s important to note that outdoor Predator Encounters, such as those in the Steel Mill or the rooftop encounter later in the story, are not suitable for this challenge. These locations will not trigger the challenge completion, even if Batman’s HUD indicates an “unseen” bonus.
Your first and easiest opportunity to conquer this challenge is within the theater. If, for any reason, you miss this chance or don’t succeed, don’t worry. There is another viable location later in the game: the GCPD Bullpen. While the theater encounter is generally considered simpler, the Bullpen offers a secondary location to achieve this challenge.
Be aware that the challenge only concludes and saves upon the takedown of the last guard. This means you don’t get multiple attempts within a single encounter. The game autosaves immediately after the final takedown. If you are concerned about failing, manually backing up your save beforehand is a wise precaution.
Finally, a crucial tip to avoid failure: refrain from using inverted takedowns. Even though they are silent, the animation where Batman is visible to the guard counts as being seen, invalidating the “unseen” condition. Stick to safe, silent takedowns from behind for every enemy. Avoid any loud takedowns, including grate takedowns, inverted takedowns, or the Knockout Smash.
If you happen to miss the theater and even the GCPD Bullpen, finding another location to complete this specific “unseen predator” challenge becomes significantly harder. However, focusing on the theater or the Bullpen as your primary targets will make achieving this challenge a straightforward task in Batman: Arkham Origins.
