Halloween is my absolute favorite time of year! Seriously, I go all out for it. Dressing up isn’t just for kids; it’s a blast for adults too! Some years I’m crafting elaborate costumes for weeks, and other years life gets crazy and we need something quick and easy. But no matter what, costumes are a must in my book. Since Halloween is just around the corner, I wanted to share one of my go-to, super simple, last-minute costume ideas that you can probably put together with things you already have in your closet: the iconic Where’s Waldo!
Remember spending ages as a kid searching for Waldo in those books? It was addictive! Finding a “Where’s Waldo?” book recently totally brought back those fun memories. That’s why I think a Where’s Waldo costume is perfect – it’s fun, nostalgic, and incredibly easy to create.
What you’ll need to become Waldo:
- Red and White Striped Shirt: This is the most recognizable part of the costume. A long-sleeved version works best, but even a t-shirt will do in a pinch. Check your closet or even a basic tee from a store will work wonders.
- Blue Pants: Jeans, chinos, or any blue pants you own will be perfect. The focus is really on the stripes and other accessories.
- Red Beanie with a Pom-Pom: The classic Waldo hat! If you don’t have one, you can easily make a pom-pom for a plain red beanie or even wrap a rubber band around the top of a slouchy beanie to mimic the pom-pom look.
- Black Glasses: Waldo’s signature eyewear. Round, black-rimmed glasses are ideal. If you don’t wear glasses, you can find inexpensive non-prescription pairs at most stores, or even use costume glasses.
- Cane or Hooked Umbrella: This accessory adds a touch of authenticity to your Waldo look. A simple cane or a black hooked umbrella works great.
- Boots: Brown or black boots complete the outfit. Comfortable footwear is key for Halloween night adventures!
