For the second straight year, San Diego State University Aztecs men’s basketball team is heading to the Sweet 16! Following their dominant 85-57 victory over Yale, the Aztecs are set to face off against the No. 1 seed University of Connecticut Huskies. This highly anticipated Sweet 16 matchup is scheduled for Thursday in Boston.
“We’ll go out there and we’ll play in a hostile environment in Boston against a great UConn team and see where it ends up,” stated Aztecs coach Brian Dutcher, highlighting the challenge and excitement ahead. “We’re going to go in with a game plan and with a bunch of guys that believe they can win and we’ll see how it ends.”
Last year, Jaedon LeDee, SDSU’s All-American forward, watched from the sidelines as UConn celebrated their victory over the Aztecs in the championship game. Now, LeDee and the team have a chance for redemption. “We kind of had a little bitter taste in our mouth last year after they beat us, but we get to play them again and they’re a great team,” LeDee commented, looking forward to the rematch.
